Accelerated Reeader is a computerized incentive reading program to be used independently by students. It is a simple procedure. A student reads a book that is on our AR list. Each book has a distinguished point value based on its length and difficulty. After finishing the book, the student then takes a quiz on the book. This can be done in theri classrooms, in the library, or in the computer lab on designated Friday mornings.
Usually, the quizzes consist of 5-15 questions that are based on the content of the book. A student must achieve 60% or higher on a quiz to recieve points. The program keeps track of a student's accumulated points. Please remember that AR is not a remedial reeading program. Its purpose is the encourage reading and improve independent reading skills.
The students will be able to view their progress in the program by checking the Accelerated Reader bulletin board located in the Library. This is a fun way for them to chart their progress and be proud of their hard work.

Children can take AR quizzes in their classrooms, in the library or in the computer lab with permission from their teacher during the school day.
In addition, we have set aside selected Friday mornings when students can come to school early to take quizzes in the Computer Lab:

The computer lab will be open on these Friday mornings from 9:00-9:30AM
